School Mosaics
Our school mosaic program is a one week collaborative art experience involving your entire school. Every single child, staff member, administration, food service, janitorial, aids, and parent groups can all join in the creation of a beautiful mosaic.
Together you will learn the process of an ancient artform and place pieces to create a beautiful 30sqft glass mosaic that will serve as a testament to what your school can accomplish working together!
How It Works
We begin the process by collaborating with the school’s Art teacher to develop a design. Once a design and colors are chosen we will prep all materials for mosaic creation.
We recommend mosaic history lessons and or activities during the week before Mosaic Mural week. This will get students ready, excited, and in the mosaic mindset.
During Mosaic Mural week, a Mosaicist will be set up in the art room with the art teacher. The Mosaicist will guide students to place tesserae (mosaic pieces) onto the substrates and discuss teamwork during their arts experience. Every participant will place at least one piece in the mosaic.
The Mosaic Mural will take 5 days to create. The goal is to get everyone in the school to cycle through the art room during the week. The completed mosaic will be grouted and finished by the Mosaic Institute and delivered ready to hang in the school.
